once a day

vintage polka dot vest, neon yellow papaya v-neck, f21 skirt, black tights, boots

I woke up to rain outside my window and all I wanted to do was stay in bed underneath my cozy, warm sheets and stay there all day.  Duty called, however, and I had to take my weepy eyes and go to school.  There's just something about rainy days, am I right?

The novelty of school has definitely worn off, but the workload has not.  I have more work than I've ever had before, but right now I'm managing pretty well.  Well..compared to the past couple weeks when I was spazzing out having a nervous breakdown, that is.  I would usually cry if I got a B or C because the voices in my head tell me I'm a failure, but reality is -- that's the furthest thing from the truth.  Truth is: junior year is hard, hard enough that B's and C's are going to pop up, and I need to accept that being perfect is an unattainable goal.  I have to go with the flow and not stress.  Life's too short to think about school and homework and school and homework all the time.

In order to separate school from MY LIFE, I am going to set aside a time each day just for me.  A time when I can do anything I feel like in that moment EXCEPT school work.  It's that simple.  No school, no homework, no worries, once a day.

when you take time for yourself, what do you do?
what helps you unwind?

sweet dreams
xoxo

  1. i feel your pain girl! i had such a rough time junior year and I literally could not tear myself away from my AP US History book -- ever. I brought that thing in my purse whereever I went. I found yoga to be a really helpful outlet -- and I still do it! I'd definitely suggest trying it if you've never done it before :]

  2. I definately know where your coming from, junior year in high school was by far the gardest year of high school and it seemed like the work never ended. Hang in there though because all of the work this year leads to such a smooth and fun senior year, so just enjoy it the best you can!
I love rainy days and those seem to be when i take time for myself. I like to just listen to music while painting or doing something art related, or I agree I also like yoga too its very helpful and definately worth a shot :)

  3. Reading. Whenever I need to unwind, I read. It helps get me out of my head and stop stressing and worrying about life. It just lets me BE.

Have you been doing anything creative lately? :)
