"weird" food

Okay, so I wake up this morning, look out my bedroom window, only to see white.  Nothing but white.
You know it's bad when you can't even see your neighbors house across the street!  Right now, I am hoping and praying that our power does not go out, because my life is dependent upon the internet at this point in time.  I mean, what's a girl to do without access to her google reader?

so I'm a computer freak..but then again..who isn't these days?

Anyways.  Spending time with my friends the other day was amazing.  And do you know what's even more amazing?  They share the same interest in the blog world that I have!  They can't get enough of the food blogs, which I find so comforting, because I don't like to be scrutinized for liking what some people claim as "weird food".  Some people have different reactions to my taste in food -- they don't really understand it.  From my point of view, if I'm finally getting excited about recipes and trying new foods, then I don't think there is room to criticize what I like.  Branching out and working up the courage to try OIAJ or one of the fabulous concoctions from that of you wonderful foodies is a BIG step.  It puts my progress into perspective, and to have a person squash that excitement is really disappointing.  For my friends to be behind me 100% in all areas, including food tastes, is incredible.  It just shows how marvelous they truly are.

How do people, that are close to you or just people in general, react to your food choices?

That's it for now, folks.
Enjoy your Wednesday!
xoxo

thanks to we heart it for the pictures.

  2. girllll....i know all about weird food choices, but you gotta do what you gotta do. if you like it and it's not unhealthy, then go for it. it's not bad if you like one thing over another compared to your friends, your are just different.

my parents lost power a few days ago and are also hoping not to lose it again. hang in there!! relief is coming!

  3. i don't think i'll ever hear the end of it from my family about my love for weird food. but now i've realized that they only comment because its so different than what i've ever liked before, and they're not trying to criticize. which was wonderful to realize.
oh man what a snow storm!! happy wednesday!

  4. I had pumpkin oatmeal this morning with cinnamon and banana. Oh, and of course some pb!! At school during lunch it can be frustrating when your peers look at your food and say, that looks gross. I don't think they realize how RUDE they are being. I know what i like, so I usually just say it's not gross, and that's the end of that. Or just ignore them completely. My family loves to make healthy choices, so they are supportive.

  5. I was forced to live without the Internet for two weeks once. I'm telling you, I was near death by the time it started working again. No joke.

Because of my past situation, people are always watching everything I eat, which is aggravating. I don't like when people (such as family members) make comments about my habits; but I suppose there's really nothing you can do about it. :/

  8. Oh my gosh I just love that there is so much snow because it means I get posts in the middle of the day! YahoooOO!

I always thought my boyfriend would make fun of me for reading blogs- surprisingly he doesn't! In fact, he reads mine! I find that it's helpful for him to read it because there are some things I can't express verbally!

Pray that snow doesn't get overzealous and knock out yo internet connection!

  10. I am definitely guilty of eating "weird" food -- but what I've found is my roomies are REALLY intrigued by them and tell me how good everything looks/smells. In fact, a few weekends ago I made the girls a big pot of banana oats and they loved!!

    stay warm honeypie xoxo

  11. People generally think my food choices are odd but I don't care. Besides, the people that I'm close to and that truly matter, they just accept it as one of my quirks.

That's so cool that your friends read blogs too, none of mine do. In fact, they would think it's weird to blog. Oh well, their loss. =)

I hope your power stays on! Especially with so much snow and nowhere to go.

  13. so your friends know about your blog? i work so hard to make sure that my friends and family DON'T find out about my blog!!! ugh, i get so annoyed when people react badly to my food choices. case in point: my roommate! she is totally obnoxious about judging what i eat, and always has to be breathign down my neck so she can see what i'm eating and make comments about it.

  14. yeah i usually get that weird look when people see my food, but i've learned to get over it. i love it, and if i find it to be the most delicious thing i've ever eaten, then they are missing out :)

  15. I would so die without the internet. Is it sad that it's the first thing I think of when it storms/snows?
People do find my food to be weird, but I don't really care. I've put people on to trying some things and they've thanked me in the end (:

  17. The blizzard has been mentioned several times on the national news in New Zealand actually. It looks terrible! And talking about addiction to the net, I often get told by my family I'm an internet-aholic :P

Anyway!! Emily - my artwork of you is done! Although I'm not entirely happy with it.. I may have to draw you again in the future sometime. If you let me of course. Thank you so much for being my muse - you've helped me start a series of drawings that I potentially hope to showcase in some way. Maybe even sell. Don't worry, the picture doesn't look so much like you (although this is part of the reason why I don't like it). You're way more pretty than that simple picture!

Anyway you can see it here: http://queensammy.com/images/emily.jpg or http://queensammy.com/images/largeemily.jpg
Or read the feature on my blog: http://www.queensammy.com/?id=165 (note, this might not be up straight away :/)

Hope you like it anyway :)
