muscle?

"Flowers grow out of darker moments."
Corita Kent

Hey there friends.
Happy late Valentine's Day!  I hope your day was filled with love, be it with yourself, family, friends, or your sweetheart.  I woke up to a bag full of tootsie pops -- my mom knows the way to my heart :)  Then my night was spent with three of my girls; we went out to a "romantic" dinner and got all dressed up.  I wore my winter formal dress, seeing as how winter formal was supposed to be last saturday, but due to the snow, it never really happened.

Yesterday I persuaded my dad to go to the gym with me. I lifted some weights, absolutely avoided any elliptical or treadmill, and it felt amazing.  I woke up this morning sore.  I can't honestly remember the last time I even felt close to sore.  It feels so wonderful words can't even describe.  Muscle?  On me?  Weird? NO. Exciting? YES!  I don't really know why it holds such a significance to me, but what I do know is that it just motivates me even more to continue on in recovery.  I love doing what's best for my body and liking the end result.  Even though I am not fully in love with the person I am, there are tiny fragments of time when I love loving myself.  The empowerment that a person gets from body acceptance is incomparable to anything else.  And the thought of loving myself wholly and entirely just excites the crap out of me.  I can't wait to get to that point, but I know it'll take time.
not quite there yet, but it's a work in progress ;)

Well I hope you all had a great monday.  Looks like I'm back to the daily grind tomorrow *sigh*
Goodnight!
xoxo

p.s. for those of you who were wondering -- the skirt that I was wearing in my last post is from papaya.

  6. Emily, i can relate to your feeling about loving oneself. sometimes i'm not fully satisfied with who i am too, but there are also times when i'm fully content. :)

great outfit and photography, too. i love seeing pictures in grayscale. they're always somehow mysterious and secretive!

good luck for the muscle-building sessions, too. i personally think girls with athletic bodies are lovely. a bit of muscles can go a long way. they just make women look gorgeous and sporty :)
