the morning rush

Putting an outfit together.

Sounds like a simple task, right?  Well unfortunately, bloggies, that isn't always the case.  Hence the mornings when there is a heaping mound of skirts, leggings, jeans, tees, belts, and everything in between piled high onto your bed and taking over the floor.  Let's be honest - we ALL have those days.

Although there is no tried and true way to avoid said disaster, you can take a few precautions to try your best in locating an outfit that will have you looking even more amazing than you already do in a snap.

First off -- know what you have.

I'll be the first to admit that in these times of complete frenzy, I honestly forget the majority of the contents of my closet, making the process a whole heck-of-a-lot harder than it needs to be.  So in my words of wisdom, taking the time to organize your closet and keep inventory of your garments is worth it.  While I might be a little hypocritical in the sense that my closet is in DIRE need of a purge, it still is a fact that remains extremely helpful to the girl on the go.

Next -- focus on one piece of clothing, then build up.
When you start with something you know you want to wear, then it makes the whole undertaking a tad easier.  This skirt is my favorite out of all the skirts I have in my wardrobe, so in an effort to put together an ensemble, it is going to be my foundation.  Anything could replace this skirt, however, in regards to your taste and style; be it a shirt, skirt, or a pair of pants..whatever you choose to be your 'focal point'.

Then -- add on the basics.

Basics are the walls supporting your structure, they are barely noticeable, while stealthily adding exactly what you need to your outfit.  For example this v-neck is plain and simple, but will add the extra something without being too over powering.

And -- cast the stars of the show.

The 'stars of the show' are your eye catchers, they draw the attention in.  This studded, cropped jacket is the perfect way to spruce up the simple tee and the solid colored skirt.  And either the boots or the flats will bring the outfit together.

Finally -- dazzle your audience!

Accessories are most definitely the jewels of your outfit, no doubt.  They are the final touches that will provoke conversation and wrap it all up!

Have a great day, lovelies :)
Enjoy my advice, and try not to over stress in the midst of a morning rush!

P.S. I have the day off because of the snow. They are saying more like 20-30 inches now.  Yikes!

  8. This year I've really started expressing myself through fashion. My personality is not super outgoing so my outfits are a way to show people who I am. It took a leap of faith and a boat load of confidence to "strut my stuff" that first day of school, but I think it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. However different our styles may be you inspire me. You seem fearless and flawless in you fashion choices. You own it girl! I love to think of the hallways at school as a runway, but sometimes I still feel blinded by the lights. I hope to have to confidence and sparkle you have someday. Emily, you are a brilliant writer and the strongest and most beautiful person I know. Never stop fighting.
