the day off

hola friends!  you guys are nothing short of amazing.  
I love that I always have your support no matter what -- it makes blogging that much more worth it.

And my prayers worked, because I incidentally woke up to this...
meaning no school for moi!

So that meant I had more time this usual this morning for a NEW breakfast.  I'll usually have kashi go crunch! cereal with a heaping amount of berries and almond milk or an ezekiel english muffin with PB&PB, but not this morning!  I was feeling confident with the help of you bloggies and took on oat bran.  Back in the day (reality: last year) I had quaker instant oats every single day with toppings and such, but I only ate it because of the rather miniscule calorie content.   Today I found new hope, though, through one of my very few attempts at oat bran.  I added in some pumpkin butter, PB, mashed banana, and cinnamon.  It was delish, of course, as all those foodies would never lie.  And I'm hoping that I can add more of it into my days at breakfast time, because from the looks of it there are endless combinations.  And, also, because I need variety back in my life.

What's your favorite oat bran combo?

Alright, well I'm off to read or draw, can't really decide which one.  
We are supposed to get more snow on Friday into Saturday...
I hear talk of maybe 20 inches!?
Yeah kinda crazy.



  1. oat bran is the best! i like it even more than oatmeal actually. so lucky you got a snow day, i've always wanted one of those! fat chance though, living in california lol. hmm some ofm y fave bowls of oat bran are: mashed banana, cocoa powder, and stevia to taste, or an apple pie bowl of "baked" apple chunks and loads of cinnamon!

  3. mm love me some oat bran for sure!! i think my favorite is with banana whipped in + pb & jelly. however i have never tried carrot cake you never now!

  4. Beautiful snow!!!! And good job with breakfast :) trying something new, and really liking it, is one of the greatest feelings :) I've never had oat bran.

  6. 20 inches?! I can't even imagine what that must be like. Sure looks pretty though with the amount of snow that you currently have.

    I've actually never tried oat bran yet. Is it a lot like regular oatmeal?

  7. holy snow! so much fun...

    my favorite and everyday (almost!) oat combo is oats, cinnamon, maple syrup, half a banana cooked in, pumpkin, and vanilla. then i top it with melty pb and the other half of my banana.

    voila :) best. breakfast. ever.

  10. that's awesome that you're trying out a former ED-only food. I had a huge issue with only eating cereal during my ED and now I realize that if I buy cereal that actually has some calories in it, I'm not ravenously hungry all the time! Good for you Em!! Keep trying new things too--it is such a fun and awesome process to experience foods that you haven't eaten for so long!!!

  11. Can I please wake up to something like that? Oh Southern California...the sunshine is nice but I want some snow in my life!!

    I've actually never had oat bran before. Methinks I'm missing out on something splendrous!! :)

  14. Emily, this morning I had mine with plain greek yogurt, vanilla soy milk, some apple butter and a banana! Super delicious!
